Review: Emotiva BasX and Airmotiv 7.2 System

Emotiva BasX and Airmotiv System

Check out the video review of an Emotiva 7.2 surround-sound system:

Emotiva’s BasX lineup is all about bringing home great audio at affordable prices. With its no-nonsense approach, the company has created a series of products catering to AV enthusiasts on tight budgets. And while it does not offer 3D immersive audio like Dolby Atmos, it still makes the most out of the vast majority of movies, TV shows, video games, and of course music that’s out there.

The BasX electronics running this rig consist of the MC-700 7.1-channel 4K AV pre/pro ($599), and the A-700 7-channel amplifier ($699). Meanwhile, the 7.2 surround-sound speaker system used here contains the following gear: Two Emotiva Airmotiv T1 tower speakers ($699/pair), one Airmotiv C1 center channel ($249), four Airmotiv E1 wall-mount surround speakers ($269/pair), and the two BasX S12 subs ($399). That all adds up to $3582—soup to nuts—which is a genuine bargain for a system with this much capability.

Together, this all adds up to a system that works holistically to bring an optimized AV experience to your home. Sure, the MC-700 does not have all the bells and whistles of a networked AVR, but what it does offer is an engineering focus on the features that are directly responsible for improving audio fidelity in the form of extra power and flexible DSP room correction, EQ, and bass management options.

Check out the featured video to find out more about this affordable high-fidelity AV system from Emotiva. Overall, the performance with stereo and standard 5.1 plus 7.1 surround-sound sources is so good, the entire system deserves an online-shashki Forum Top Choice 2017 award.
